Hello everyone, dear friends of our bullfamily!
Summer has arrived, and we want to share some valuable tips with you to keep our beloved bulldogs cool and happy during the warm summer months.
Today, we'll talk about air conditioning at home, the importance of avoiding our bulldogs from being under the vents, the ideal temperature, and temperature fluctuations. So, get comfortable and get ready to discover how to ensure a refreshing bull life for our four-legged friends!
Air conditioning:
Bulldogs are a beautiful breed, with their adorable appearance and affectionate character, but they can suffer a lot in the summer heat. Their anatomical structure makes them particularly sensitive to high temperatures, so air conditioning becomes our main ally. Remember to maintain an efficient air conditioning system at home, capable of keeping a cool temperature (not cold, let's leave that to Antarctica! 🐧).
But beware of the vents!:
If there's one thing we're quite sure about, it's that your bulldogs love to position themselves under the air conditioning vents. This is ABSOLUTELY to be avoided! The direct flow of cold air can cause serious respiratory problems. Also, alternating between cool and warm areas can create sudden temperature changes that are not healthy for our four-legged friends. Therefore, make sure to direct the air away from kennels or resting areas so that they can enjoy the cool without risks.
The ideal temperature for bulldogs:
Now let's talk about the ideal temperature for our bulldogs. Every dog is a unique individual, so their preferences may vary slightly. However, generally, it is recommended to maintain a temperature between 23°C and 26°C to ensure a cool and comfortable environment for our bulldogs. This will help them relax, avoid overheating, and enjoy the summer without health problems. Always pay attention, though, to the external temperature. Maintaining a temperature around 23°C indoors while it's around 30°C outside can be harmful when they have to go out. Always try to avoid too many fluctuations, staying around 4-5°C difference between indoor and outdoor temperatures.
Temperature fluctuations:
We've already said it, but we want to emphasize it: to be avoided at all costs!
We must be careful with temperature fluctuations. Temperature swings can cause stress and respiratory problems in bulldogs. When our bulldog spends a lot of time outdoors or even just during walks, we should prefer cool hours (morning before 11:00, evening after 18:00) and shade to protect them from the sun and high temperatures. When, instead, we bring them indoors from outside, we must allow them to adapt gradually to the temperature change to avoid abrupt swings.
Dear bulldog lovers, keeping our four-legged friends cool and comfortable during the summer is a commitment we must take seriously. Making sure to have a working air conditioning system, preventing them from being under vents, maintaining an ideal temperature, and preventing temperature fluctuations are essential actions to ensure a happy and healthy bull life.
With this article, we wish you a wonderful summer, and as always, #stayfresh
