Dermatite nei bulldog: cos'è e come affrontarla

Dermatitis in bulldogs: what it is and how to deal with it

Dermatitis in dogs is a widespread pathology with different causes, mainly divided into three types: allergic , atopic and stress . Common symptoms include intense itching , skin inflammation , redness , hair loss in specific areas, scabs , dandruff , and eczema . Below you will find the main distinctions between the types of dermatitis mentioned:

1. Allergic dermatitis:
Caused by immune reactions to substances considered harmful, such as food intolerances, insect bites, parasites or drug allergies. The dog may become itchy, lick excessively and have areas of thinning fur or lacerations. Bullderm is a recommended solution, thanks to its antibacterial, anti-reddening and protective. Its components such as Aloe Vera, alpha bisabolol, Calendula oil and St. John's Wort help to soothe .

2. Atopic dermatitis:
A chronic inflammatory disease linked to genetic predisposition, it causes intense itching mainly on the face, ears, abdomen and armpits, accompanied by conjunctivitis and allergic rhinitis. Lenibull offers immediate relief from itching with ingredients such as Calendula oil, St. John's wort and Zinc oxide (the same contained in our Magic Powder ), creating a protective barrier.

3. Stress dermatitis:
It arises from psychological conditions, in these cases the dog licks itself nervously causing skin wounds. The support of a veterinarian or a behaviorist is essential to understand and resolve the causes of stress.

Atopic dermatitis and environmental allergy:
Atopic dermatitis can be due to environmental substances such as pollen, dust, mites, mold and animal dander. Symptoms begin between the ages of 6 months and 3 years, including itching, licking of the interdigital spaces, rubbing of the muzzle, and others. Diagnosis is based on intradermal or serological skin tests. Veterinary therapies exist for desensitization against detected allergens. The process takes time, but there is a 75% improvement within the first year.

Other useful information:
Dermatitis can result from infestations, food allergies, contact with irritants, hormonal disorders or genetic predisposition. It is crucial to quickly identify the cause when itching and redness appear. Symptoms vary, but prompt identification allows for specific treatments.

Symptoms of dermatitis:
Itching is a common symptom, but dermatitis can manifest itself in different ways (hair loss in localized areas, eczema, dandruff, crusts). The causes range from the proliferation of organisms on the skin to food or environmental allergies. It is very important to immediately understand the cause, since the various causes require different specific approaches in therapy.

Conclusions:
Consulting a veterinarian for an accurate diagnosis and specific treatment plan is crucial. Avoid self-medication with products for human use (e.g. Amuchina, pure alcohol, Gentalyn beta, Fissan, etc...) and prefer products designed by professional dermatologists to relieve symptoms and prevent their reappearance.

Bullcare was born from bulldog owners, for their care and well-being. Our products have been designed by professional chemists and veterinarians specifically for the care of this breed. Products for human use, even if intended for children, are not the best solution for our dogs.

Knowing the underlying cause remains crucial, and precautions such as good hygiene can reduce the chances of developing dermatitis.
